Celebrate International Trombone Week from April 5-12, 2009!
Since 2003, the ITA has promoted our wonderful instrument in over a
dozen countries through International Trombone Week. ITW celebrations
have included performances by trombone soloists and ensembles, brass
quintets, community bands, high school bands, big bands and more.
This year, we invite all trombone players - beginners through
professionals - to contribute to the fun.
How can I get involved?
It's simple: Do something in honor of the trombone during the week of
April 5-12, 2009 - and share it with our community. You could: - organize a trombone-related event in your local community,
- compose or arrange an original work for trombone(s),
- record some music for trombone,
- create an painting called "Homage to the Trombone",
- work with a dancer friend to create a lively Salute to the
Trombone,
- ... and so on...
The goal is to create something we can be proud of, as it raises
public appreciation of our instrument's beauty and flexibility.
Helpful resources include a template for your local "press release"
and the ITW 2009 logo. In addition, we may offer a limited number of
instrument case stickers for distribution at ensemble events.
Whatever you do, please tell us all about it. If you submit
information about your trombone-related contribution (such as a local
event, original music, or recording of a performance) via the ITW form
on this site, we will consider for possible inclusion here. If you
post a recording or photo to a major web service (such as YouTube.com,
Flickr.com, etc.), please share a link to it when you submit the form.
This page will be updated as we approach April's festivities. Till
then, you can:
Contact the ITW Committee (itw@trombone.net) with your questions.
