Brent Phillips joins the faculty at the University of Houston.

He was formerly at Baylor University and recognized in developing a prominent trombone studio and placing students in top orchestral careers, premiere Washington DC service bands, and teaching posts. He has moved to Houston to pursue creative professional engagements, continue development of the Mountain Light Music Festival, which he founded in 2015, and will be teaching as an Affiliate Artist in the trombone studio at UH this fall.
He was formerly assistant principal and soloist with the “President’s Own” US Marine Band, principal trombone with the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra and currently plays principal trombone with the Abilene Philharmonic and Waco Symphony. He performed as acting second trombone with the Dallas Symphony for two seasons, recording and touring under Jaap van Zweden and is a substitute with the Dallas Opera and Houston Symphony.
Brent Phillips is originally from Houston and is looking forward to being back in H-town!
