In November 2023, we invited talented composers to showcase their trombone writing skills in a contest. Composers were invited to submit an original trombone octet of 5-7 minutes in length.
The winning submission is Sunrise Over Frost and Fog by David Faleris (https://www.davidfaleris.com). Congratulations!
Trombone players may download and perform it at no cost (see below). Faleris’ wonderful new work has been introduced to the world as part of the ongoing International Trombone Week (ITW). We encourage trombone ensembles to share recordings; please tag your performance videos on social media using #spitvalve and #trombone.
As the winning composer, David Faleris will receive a:
- professional recording of their composition.
- complimentary pass to the 2024 International Trombone Festival
- 5-year Regular membership to the International Trombone Association
- performances of their work during International Trombone Week
- $100 gift certificate to ITA’s merchandise shop
