DESCRIPTION:Coming up is a landmark weekend with the Santa Barbara Symphony\, featuring a world premiere collaboration between legendary trombonist Christian Lindberg and Principal Trombonist Dillon MacIntyre. Under the baton of Music & Artistic Director Nir Kabaretti\, the program includes Andrea Tarrodi’s Double Trombone Concerto—a vibrant\, imaginative new work co-commissioned by the Santa Barbara Symphony and Tonhalle Düsseldorf\, and dedicated to Lindberg\, Daniel Téllez Gutiérrez\, and MacIntyre. \n\n\n\nThe concerto pairs two extraordinary soloists in a dazzling dialogue of sound\, showcasing the full expressive and technical range of the trombone. Tarrodi’s colorful writing and Lindberg’s incomparable artistry promise an unforgettable premiere that celebrates the instrument’s voice in contemporary music. \n\n\n\nRounding out the program are Aaron Jay Kernis’s luminous Musica Celestis and Mozart’s transcendent Requiem\, performed with the Santa Barbara Symphony Chorus.

DESCRIPTION:Join the Sheffield Philharmonic Orchestra as it launches its 80th annual concert series with a vibrant and thrilling programme of music. \n\n\n\nThe concert will open with Dorothy Howell’s last large-scale orchestral work Three Divertissements.  Originally written for the 1940 Proms but shelved due to wartime cancellations\, Three Divertissements has remained largely unheard until recent years.  This lively and colourful suite is a brilliant rediscovery by a British composer whose music is finally being brought back to the spotlight. \n\n\n\nDani Howard’s Trombone Concerto is a powerful and uplifting response to the challenges of 2020\, written during lockdown as a celebration of human resilience and connection.  Across three vivid movements – from quiet introspection to joyful\, high-energy celebration – the solo trombone takes on the role of an individual navigating a complex world\, ultimately emerging with hope and purpose.  Expect dazzling virtuosity from soloist Blair Sinclair\, Principal Trombone of Opera North. \n\n\n\nFinally\, immerse yourself in the sweeping drama and rich romanticism of Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5 in E minor – a symphonic journey through fate\, passion\, and triumph.  This is Tchaikovsky at his most emotionally compelling. \n\n\n\nCelebrate this milestone season with us and experience a night of powerful live music\, unforgettable melodies\, and virtuosic performance.
