SUMMARY:International Trombone Festival
DESCRIPTION:The International Trombone Festival is an annual multi-day event featuring all things trombone. Artists\, teachers\, students\, professionals\, industry leaders\, and hobbyists gather to celebrate and explore the many facets and styles of trombone playing\, teaching\, and craftsmanship. The location of the ITF moves around the world on an annual basis. Most festivals occur in the United States\, but the ITF frequently occurs in other countries worldwide.  \n\n\n\nAnnual ITF programming includes diverse performers. \n\n\n\nThe Composers’ Workshop occurs during the ITF\, with a small cohort of composers chosen from a very competitive pool of applicants. These composers work daily with our featured guests and have their music performed by ITF Presenters and Artists. \n\n\n\nOur featured Artists are invited to perform\, and they represent the pinnacle of trombone artistry and teaching. \n\n\n\nPresenters are chosen from a competitive pool of applicants\, and they share full recitals\, lectures\, and clinics on various topics. \n\n\n\nStudent Ensembles also apply through a competitive process\, and those chosen to perform share prelude concerts before Artist recitals. \n\n\n\nThe International Trombone Association solo and ensemble competition finals are held at the ITF each year. \n\n\n\nExhibitors populate our expansive exhibit hall with instruments\, gadgets\, sheet music\, and much more. \n\n\n\nThe Youth Workshop runs alongside and in conjunction with the ITF to support the development of the next generation of trombone artists.

SUMMARY:Peter Moore - Howard Trombone Concerto
DESCRIPTION:From the crashing waves and rushing winds of Debussy’s ode to the might and the magic of the sea\, to one of Mahler’s most perfect symphonies\, this pair of works both explore hope and the healing power of nature. Between them\, Belfast-born\, Manchester-raised Peter Moore performs the RPS Award-winning trombone concerto by Dani Howard. \n\n\n\nTrombone concertos are a rare fixture\, but Howard’s virtuosic and ravishing work is appointment listening. Between her lush and minimalist-inflected music\, and Moore’s extraordinary artistry (BBC Music Magazine described Peter’s playing as ‘displaying an eloquence and nobility that one might have thought impossible except by the human voice’)\, this left-of centre work might just be the highlight of this extraordinary concert. \n\n\n\nBBC Philharmonic OrchestraElena Schwarz conductorPeter Moore trombone \n\n\n\nDebussy La MerDani Howard Trombone ConcertoMahler Symphony No. 1

SUMMARY:Howard Trombone Concerto\, presented by the Sheffield Philharmonic Orchestra
DESCRIPTION:Join the Sheffield Philharmonic Orchestra as it launches its 80th annual concert series with a vibrant and thrilling programme of music. \n\n\n\nThe concert will open with Dorothy Howell’s last large-scale orchestral work Three Divertissements.  Originally written for the 1940 Proms but shelved due to wartime cancellations\, Three Divertissements has remained largely unheard until recent years.  This lively and colourful suite is a brilliant rediscovery by a British composer whose music is finally being brought back to the spotlight. \n\n\n\nDani Howard’s Trombone Concerto is a powerful and uplifting response to the challenges of 2020\, written during lockdown as a celebration of human resilience and connection.  Across three vivid movements – from quiet introspection to joyful\, high-energy celebration – the solo trombone takes on the role of an individual navigating a complex world\, ultimately emerging with hope and purpose.  Expect dazzling virtuosity from soloist Blair Sinclair\, Principal Trombone of Opera North. \n\n\n\nFinally\, immerse yourself in the sweeping drama and rich romanticism of Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5 in E minor – a symphonic journey through fate\, passion\, and triumph.  This is Tchaikovsky at his most emotionally compelling. \n\n\n\nCelebrate this milestone season with us and experience a night of powerful live music\, unforgettable melodies\, and virtuosic performance.
