Brandon Domingue

Brandon Domingue is a trombonist interested in bringing composers from underrepresented and diverse communities into the standard repertoire. As an educator, he works to provide musical opportunities to students of all ages, regardless of social or economic class. Brandon holds degrees from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (M.M.) and Southeastern Louisiana University (B.M.). He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Music Arts degree from the University of Southern Mississippi where he serves as a graduate assistant in the trombone studio.

Brandon makes it a goal to support and provide musical and educational opportunities to students of low-income and diverse populations in Southern communities. He has served as a Teaching Artist with Kids’ Orchestra, a music education organization based out of Baton Rouge, LA that provides musical performance and learning opportunities to low-income students across South Louisiana. He is also a board member of the Louisiana Trombone Collective, which is a new nonprofit that promotes diversity, inclusion, and success in low brass players in Acadiana, Louisiana, and internationally. Along with this, he has previously worked as adjunct faculty with the Trombone and Low Brass Studio at UL Lafayette and as the production assistant and trombone fellow with the Lutheran Summer Music Academy and Festival in Valparaiso, IN.

Brandon is an advocate for new music and music by diverse composers. He routinely programs music by underrepresented groups and has shared his knowledge of these composers during his time as a featured soloist for Le Salon: Chamber Music in an Intimate Space. He is also a Performing Artist for New Music on the Bayou, a summer music festival held across north Louisiana, and has contributed to commissioning consortiums to help add to the trombone’s repertoire. In addition, he performs with various symphonic groups across Louisiana and Mississippi, including the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra, the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra, the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, and Opera Louisiane. He has also made appearances with various commercial groups and New Orleans-style brass bands in Baton Rouge and Lafayette, LA.

When Brandon is not practicing or studying, he likes to play Creole accordion, weightlift, and continue his search for the perfect cup of coffee.
