The Music Department of the College of Saint Benedict/Saint John’s University (CSB/SJU) invites applications for a part time adjunct instructor position with specialization in Low Brass (trombone, bass trombone, euphonium, and tuba) to begin in August 2017. Primary responsibilities will include applied studio instruction in low brass performance. Candidates will work collaboratively with the applied brass faculty and directors of instrumental ensembles, as well as be active in recruiting. Depending on the candidate’s areas of interest and expertise, other potential assignments may include coaching brass chamber music ensembles and/or jazz combos, and performing in the faculty chamber ensemble, PASTICHE.
The College of Saint Benedict, a college for women, and Saint John’s University, a college for men, are two liberal arts colleges located four miles apart in Central Minnesota just outside metropolitan Saint Cloud and 70 miles from Minneapolis. The students of these two colleges share in one common education, as well as coeducational social, cultural and spiritual programs. M.M. in music is required; D.M.A. or other appropriate terminal degree preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with substantial professional performance and education experience in both the classical and jazz mediums. A commitment to the liberal arts and an appreciation for the small college learning environment is essential.
