
The Eastman School of Music has announced the appointment of renowned trombonist and composer Marshall Gilkes as Associate Professor of Jazz Trombone, beginning in the 2025-26 academic year. A Grammy-nominated artist, Gilkes is widely respected for his work with the WDR Big Band, the Maria Schneider Orchestra, and as a soloist. Known for his virtuosic technique and lyrical improvisation, he brings extensive performance and compositional expertise to Eastman’s Jazz and Contemporary Media department. His addition is expected to enhance the school’s jazz program, providing students with world-class instruction and professional insights into the evolving jazz landscape. Congratulations Marshall!
