YYPA Competition

Applications for the 2019 YYPA Competition application are now open.

Many competitions offer winners a one-time cash prize. The YYPA Competition offers winners a future – investment in them as performers and people. The winners are invited to attend an all-expense paid weekend as part of the Music for All Summer Symposium, and receive an incredible performance opportunity with a weekend of personal and professional growth.

The 2019 YYPA Application and additional information, including the Official Competition Rules, can be found here – http://4wrd.it/YYPA2019_ORG. The deadline for application submissions is December 19, 2018 (midnight eastern time).

Scholarships and TA Arizona State University

The ASU Trombone Studio is a supportive community where students are encouraged and challenged to take initiative in pursuit of their musical aspirations.

A TA position is available for the Fall 2019 semester. Some talented bass trombonists are graduating, so bass trombonists are especially encouraged to apply.

The position can be combined with a music scholarship to create a package that covers 100% of tuition and pays a stipend.

The TA position can be awarded to either a Master’s or Doctoral student.

There is also a generous scholarship budget which, combined with ASU’s academic scholarships, can make the ASU program highly affordable!

Email Brad Edwards for more information.

Music for Charity

Dr. Thomas W Zugger, Associate Dean, Chair of Instrumental Music, and Professor of Music at Capital University completed a project where music can be purchased not for profit, but for donation to a charity of your choice.

Go to this website, where he has made 19 of his compositions available. Donations are on the honors system. So far over $600 has been raised in the last two months.

The suggested donation for each piece is listed below the title, either $10 or $15.  Once you make a donation, email Dr. Zugger so he can keep a tally.  Program PDF’s are also always appreciated.

Pieces are available for:

Brass Quintet
Clarinet solo and in chamber music
Solo Trumpet

If you have any questions or are looking for a new composition with specific instrumentation or difficulty level, email Dr. Zugger for more details.
