Teaching Fellowship University of North Texas


The University of North Texas announces an opening for teaching fellow (DMA candidate) starting Fall 2019. Benefits include out-of-state tuition waivers, tuition benefit of 6 hours, stipend up to $12,800 per year and access to employer sponsored health insurance. Duties include teaching trombone lessons, conducting trombone choir and coaching chamber music.

Graduate Assistantship University of Southern Mississippi


The University of Southern Mississippi will have an available graduate assistantship for a master’s or doctoral trombone student starting in the Fall 2019 semester.  The assistantship covers tuition, health insurance, and a generous stipend.  Duties include the opportunity to teach applied lessons to undergraduate music majors along with coaching chamber music, assisting with trombone choir, and guest artist residencies.

Graduate Assistantship (MM only) University of Tennessee


The University of Tennessee (Knoxville) has a Graduate Assistant opening for a Master of Music student, beginning in the Fall of 2019. Full tuition, medical benefits, and a monthly stipend are provided, and there is potential for an additional $1000 yearly brass quintet scholarship based on audition merit. Duties include undergraduate teaching, assistance and occasional directing of the UT Trombone Choir, chamber ensemble coaching, and more. Graduate Assistantship University of Arkansas


The studio of Dr. Cory Mixdorf, at the University of Arkansas, has a graduate assistantship opening for the 2019-20 school year. The assistantship includes a tuition waiver, $12,000 annual stipend, teaching and leadership experience, as well as a guaranteed position with the Arkansas Philharmonic Orchestra, playing alongside Dr. Mixdorf. The University of Arkansas, located in the foothills of the Ozarks in Fayetteville (ranked in the top five places to live in the country by U.S. News & World Report), is an SEC university with an enrollment of over 27,500. François de Lima in Florida


Brazilian trombonist François de Lima was featured artist in a concert with Brazilian jazz band O Som Do Jazz at the Palladium Theater in St. Petersburg, Florida on September 6 with trombonist and band leader David Manson. François de Lima has toured and recorded with Djavan, Roberto Carlos, Gal Costa, Milton Nascimento, among many other Brazilian artists and bands. He is also a founding member of the award-winning Banda Mantiqueira.

ITF 2019 Call for Proposals/Presenters


The International Trombone Festival invites artists, ensembles, pedagogues, researchers, and other trombone/brass- related individuals or organizations to submit proposals to present at the 2019 ITF at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. Accepted applications will be scheduled either for a 50-minute live session, or for a Poster Presentation. This can include lectures, clinics, and recital programs.

ITF 2019 University Faculty Showcase Application


Building on the success and popularity of the 2018 University Faculty Showcase, the 2019 International Trombone Festival will feature university faculty in a series of daily recitals focusing on new music, and/or innovative programming. The ITF invites university faculty from around the world to apply. Instrumentation and/or performance format is open, and applicants are encouraged to explore innovation, creativity, and/or a variety of styles. Preference is given to new or emerging music and premieres, but established repertoire that has not yet gained worldwide recognition is also welcomed. Performances should be between 5-15 minutes in length, and trombone (played by the applicant) should be a featured member of the ensemble.

The application deadline is October 1.

ITF 2019 Student Ensemble Performer Application


The International Trombone Festival invites student ensembles at the university and secondary level and community groups to submit proposals to perform at the 2019 ITF at Ball State University. Accepted ensembles will be scheduled for a 20 minute time slot as an opening performance for a Festival artist, or a 30 minute showcase performance in an alternative festival venue. Trombone choirs, trombone quartets, mixed brass, or other ensembles featuring trombonists, are invited to apply.
