Piano score and solo part
Primary Genre: Solo Tenor Trombone - with piano
Romance at Dawn for trombone and piano (also for horn and piano) is a lyrical solo by Israeli composer, Jan Freidlin. This four-minute composition features a simple yet captivating melody that explores the mid-low range of the tenor trombone. After exploring the rich depths of this timbre, Freidlin has the soloist climb into tenor clef briefly at the end of the piece. Its specific range is from A to a1, making it very accessible to intermediate players just learning tenor clef. Though Freidlin himself is a pianist, Romance at Dawn is one of the many trombone compositions in his oeuvre and I would highly recommend this piece as a palette cleanser in a recital.
