Piano score and solo part

Primary Genre: Solo Tenor Trombone - with piano

This solemn work was originally written for cello. Cherry has kept intact the ethnic, augmented second feel that permeates the two sections of this brief but heartfelt work. The opening f minor section is replete with ornaments that are a bit of a challenge, as well as range of C to d-flat2. The basic, chordal accompaniment allows for a rubato approach. The second part is more rhythmic and emphatic yet maintains the free-flowing phrasing and modal texture of the opening section. The work ends happily in C major, as if the prayer has at least been heard, if not granted. Again range is an issue, and some tenor clef is utilized. Prayer works as a recital change of pace or perhaps in a Jewish setting.
