This arrangement of the Fanfare is in the key of C and is otherwise identical to the arrangement available from DFT in the key of B-flat. The higher key allows for a more favorable blend between the trumpets and the lower brass, and a fuller, more satisfying sound. Although scored for two B-flat trumpets, horn (with trombone substitute), and trombone, the first or both trumpet parts could also be played on C trumpet, though no part is provided. Range may be a consideration for younger players, as the first trumpet reaches b2, while the trombone part merely extends down to G. Parts which favor the natural tendencies of the instruments and genre reveal an arrangement of Te Deum which is quite good. -Dave Brubeck Miami Dade College, Kendall Campus
