Organ score and solo part
Primary Genre: Solo Tenor Trombone - with organ
Andante religioso for trombone and organ is a composition by Afred Andersen, edited by Niels-Ole Bo Johansen. The solo trombone part is beautifully simplistic in its melodic content, but is heightened by the organ accompaniment. The accessibility in performing this piece relies heavily on securing an organ and organist. The accompaniment could be altered to piano, but the composition would lose its ethereal quality. The use of trombone and organ with the piece’s religious subtext gives this solo a spiritual quality. The solo part is written in a mild range from c to a2. Lyrical in nature, the most rhythmically demanding aspect of the trombone part are running 16th notes; however, at 72bpm there is no need for multiple tonguing or intense slidework. I highly recommend this piece to trombonists of the intermediate to advanced level. It would make for a lovely addition to any recital.
