Originally for bass trombone and wind orchestra, this version with piano reduction by the composer will make a nice addition to a bass trombone recital. A stately opening is followed by a lyrical opening theme. The second theme is much quicker and requires a nimble touch in the low register with occasional glissandi giving an almost humorous feel from time to time. The range, GG-flat to f-sharp1, provides the bass trombonist with frequent opportunities to showcase the low end of the instrument and to use various valve combinations.
