Lisa Albrecht, Second Trombone, Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, has taken this traditional holiday concert closer and created a fun, light and energetic theme and variations for trombone quartet. This arrangement poses no major technical challenges other than a few measures of quick eighth-notes in the bottom two parts, requiring good slide technique. The first trombone part reaches b-flat1 a few times while the bass descends to C. These ranges, combined with an easy key signature, E-flat major, and the use of only bass clef makes this piece accessible to talented high school ensembles.
