di Lasso was, along with Palestrina, the greatest Renaissance composer. This madrigal (?), one of many genres Orlando di Lasso mastered, has been thoughtfully transcribed by Kevin Henry. Highly imitative in texture and straightforward in phrase length and cadences, the different verses are set-off by well-placed breath marks, changes in dynamics, and rests. Range traverses E-flat in the bass part to b-flat1 in the first part. This brief, invigorating work is suitable for performance as a regular quartet or for multiple players on each part.
