Primary Genre: Trombone Ensembles - 2 trombones

These standard duets were first composed in 1928, most likely for Blazhevich and his contemporaries at the Bolshoi Theater Orchestra. Following a lengthy legal debate, in excess of 50 years, Blazhevich’s family now receives royalties from his estate to which they are legally entitled, and this current version is published by Briar Music Press. These are a collection of 38 duets for two trombones alternating among alto, tenor, and bass clefs, that provide a wealth of diverse styles, meters, and harmonies. Each duet has its own set of challenges and all are exceptionally well-written with a clear sense of the capability of the trombone and performer. As recommended by the publisher, because of range and technical demands, these are better suited for the advanced student or professional. Blazhevich is regarded as one of the forefathers of modern trombone playing and this collection is a fine example of his work, and now legally available.
