Score and parts

Primary Genre: Trombone Ensembles - 6 trombones

Once again, one is pleasantly surprised by the discovery of a treasure from an apparently unlikely source that has been re-set as a gem of the trombone literature by a resourceful arranger. Described as ‘whimsical’ (Nicholas Marston), and ‘charming and graceful’ (Charles O’Connell); this allegretto movement exudes only good humour and should not fail to provide a pleasurable playing experience. The arranger has done a fine job here.

Technical demands include evenness in playing staccato eighth and sixteenth notes and articulation of 32nd notes, and sudden changes of dynamics. Ranges are comfortable, first part tops out at b-flat1. Transcription is in the original key of B-flat major. Scoring is for four tenor trombones, bass trombone and tuba. Mark Prater is a trombonist and currently serves as Director of Music and Organist at First Presbyterian Church in Bandon, Florida. Production of score and parts is exemplary.
