Score and parts

Primary Genre: Solo Tenor Trombone - with brass
Secondary Genre: Brass Ensemble - 5 brass

This is a setting of a familiar trombone standard with brass quartet accompaniment. It provides a nice opportunity for the trombone to solo as part of a brass quintet program or education program. A word of warning: the registration in the two trumpet parts, which are set for B-flat trumpet and piccolo trumpet, often position these parts in a high register and will require professional level performers to pull off a performance with the delicacy and nuance required for this solo. The horn and tuba parts are not difficult, and the simplicity of the orchestrated piano accompaniment lends itself well to a brass quartet setting. There are some phrasing items, i.e. ritard, piu mosso, etc., that are not included, and though not necessary, might make the setting more complete. This arrangement would be a great addition to any advanced or professional quintet library.
