Score and parts

Primary Genre: Trombone Ensembles - 4 trombones

This arrangement of Frosty the Snow Man is quick, clever, and presents a musical challenge to young trombonists. It is a piece that can be easy or difficult depending on tempo. This is due to an emphasis on syncopation within the arrangement’s brisk swing feel. True to the original tune, charming legato sections are sandwiched in between the main melodic material that creates good contrast. Simple fun appears to be a goal of this arrangement but it is also a good study in characteristic jazz rhythms. All parts are printed in bass clef and range extends from b-flat1 in the first part to G in the fourth part. The fourth part is a tenor trombone part and does not require a double valve instrument. The first part contains most of the recognizable melodic material; the other voices play supporting roles. There are no page turns and the music is easy to read. Frosty the Snow Man is a fitting encore to a recital or Christmas concert.
