Piano score and solo part

Primary Genre: Solo Tenor Trombone - with piano

Harry Stanton’s Castlegate is a short, delightful piece for the middle school trombonist that uses a simple ABA form. Each section is unified by a recurring rhythmic motive in each measure. The opening section uses an articulated, staccato style, emphasizing a constant eighth-note pulse. The middle section is lyrical, relying on a flowing quarter-note feel. Castlegate is written in common time with a range that extends from c to f1. In thirty-six bars there is ample material for the young student to work on the basics of rhythm, articulation, tone production, intonation and slide technique. Contrasting sections, a simple piano part and catchy tunes allow for work on musicianship as well.
