Primary Genre: Solo Bass/Contrabass Trombone - unaccompanied

These (and Suite in D - tenor trombone; CMS: 2064) are technically and musically demanding transcriptions of an unaccompanied, four-movement, Baroque suite set by one of the world's finest trombonists. Scored for either tenor or bass trombone (the work is notated down a fifth for bass trombone) the transcriptions are thoughtfully edited, with abundant phrasing, dynamic, articulation, and ornamentation indications. An F-attachment is required for performance of the tenor trombone edition, as the range extends from C-sharp–c2. The many BBs written in the edition for bass trombone mandate a double-trigger instrument. The tenor trombone edition alternates between bass and tenor clefs; the bass trombone edition stays in bass clef throughout. These works are easily equivalent in level of difficulty to the Bach cello suites and so present the same inherent challenges, wide intervals, lack of rests, breathing issues, etc. Well suited to the advanced player, they definitely hold one's interest in the practice room and are welcome fare on any recital program.
