Score and parts

Primary Genre: Brass Ensemble - 4 brass

These two quartets are excellent challenges for students at the grade 2-3 stage of development. They are scored for two trumpets, horn, and trombone. Canzona uses imitation throughout. It begins forte and is heavily accented. Dynamic changes provide variety and there are no range problems in the piece. Chanson is the easier of the two. It is alla breve, half note = 60; the quarter note is the smallest rhythmic subdivision used. Accents and volume changes provide variety for students to work on style and technique. Presentation is excellent.
